LGW Restricts Flights as COVID Hits Control Tower Staff

London’s Gatwick Airport has imposed a daily cap on flights after nearly one-third of its air traffic control tower staff were sidelined due to medical reasons, including Covid, reports TravelWeekly.

The airport's daily flight operations have been restricted to 800, affecting thousands of travellers. This is the third limitation this month, set to remain until 01OCT. The decision is aimed at averting unforeseen delays and cancellations.

Passengers are advised to verify flight statuses with their respective airlines. Several stakeholders, including airline executives and travel authorities, have expressed concerns over the ongoing disruptions and called for more sustainable solutions.
