Mexican Media: Violence Threatens Cancún’s Robust Tourism Recovery

According to Mexico News Daily, Cancun’s recovery from the pandemic is under threat due to recent shootings in tourist areas. A series of violent incidents, ranging from violence in Cancun’s hotel zone, the death of two tourists caught in the crossfire of gang violence in Tulum, and a recent incident on 09DEC where perpetrators on jet skis opened fire outside a Cancun hotel, have brought attention to the destination in a bad way. Until those incidents, Cancun had been recovering strongly, with almost 20m passengers passing through CUN to date in 2021.
