The Mexican government has removed authorization of cabotage from upcoming reforms, Simple Flying is reporting. The government had been considering the rule, which would allow foreign carriers to operate domestic routes in Mexico, to add flights to and from the new NLU. A prohibition against cabotage prevents domestic carriers from having to compete with international airlines on domestic routes.
The proposed policy changes would allow the Mexican army to operate a new state airline called Mexicana. The new airline would be based out of NLU.
