Mexico State Tourism Ministers Want Int’l Travellers Screened for COVID-19

State ministers in Mexico are pressing the national government for a policy that requires international arrivals to be screened for COVID-19. Mexico’s association of tourism ministers, led by Oaxaca Tourism Minister Juan Carlos Rivera Castellanos, will take the proposal to Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs next week. During the pandemic, the country has not closed its air borders or required international arrivals to quarantine upon arrival, and many are laying the blame on these lax restrictions on COVID-19 outbreaks in tourism hotspots such as Cancún and Los Cabos.
