Montréal Business Leaders Join Calls Urging Canadian Government to Open Borders to Fully Vaccinated International Travellers

Industry leaders from Montréal are joining the Canadian Travel and Tourism Roundtable (The Roundtable), in calls to the federal government to re-open Canada to fully vaccinated international travellers. Pre-pandemic, Montréal typically welcomed more than 11 million visitors a year, generating nearly CAD $5b in revenue. As a result of the pandemic, the number of international visitors to Montréal in 2020 decreased by 94 per cent year over year, and the city experienced its lowest hotel occupancy rate ever of around 15 per cent. Over 70% of Montréal residents have received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine so far.
