Since the emergence of the Omicron variant, a new poll from Leger and the Association for Canadian Studies found that four out of five Canadian respondents support closing the Canadian border to travellers coming from countries where the variant is present. 68 per cent said they would approve of reintroducing safety restrictions such as social distancing and temporary lockdowns in Canada for certain public places and activities. Two out of three Canadians said they are in favour of possibly closing Canada’s border with the U.S. for a period of time. The poll of 1,547 Canadians was conducted between 03-05DEC.
