Celebrity Cruises' latest addition, Celebrity Ascent, marked its debut by welcoming its first guests in Fort Lauderdale, reports Cruise Industry News.
The fourth ship in the Edge Class, the 3,260-guest vessel, embarked on a four-night cruise to the Western Caribbean from Port Everglades. The itinerary included visiting Cozumel, Mexico - kicking off the ship's inaugural season beginning in early DEC.
The event included a naming ceremony with Captain Sandy Yawn and Michelle Dunham as co-godmothers, followed by a maiden voyage on 04DEC to the Eastern Caribbean. The Celebrity Ascent's winter schedule features the Caribbean before heading to Europe for Mediterranean and Greek Islands for the summer season.
