New Cruise Port, Puerto Cabo Rojo, Is Opening in the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is set to welcome its newest cruise port, Puerto Cabo Rojo, with the arrival of a Royal Caribbean ship on 18DEC, reports Caribbean Journal.

The port, part of the Pedernales tourism pole development, will focus on eco-destinations in the Enriquillo region for passenger shore excursions. The Dominican Republic's cruise industry has already welcomed over 1.5 million passengers in 2023, with the development of Pedernales attracting hotel investors.

The first hotels in the area are expected to open by 2025. The country's Ministry of Tourism hopes the new port will further grow the thriving industry.
