Norway On Course to Re-Write Cruise Record Books

In SEP, Norway set a record with 410 cruise ship calls, a 71% increase from SEP 2019's 239 calls, reports Seatrade Cruise News.

Year-on-year, this was 359 more than in SEP 2022. Passenger day visits reached 5.7 million in the first nine months of 2023, up from four million in 2019.

Notably, Cruise Norway's 2023 forecast was surpassed by SEPT, and according to CEO Inge Tangerås, cruise passenger numbers may nearly double from 2017 to 2023. Factors boosting the numbers include shifts from the Baltic due to the Ukraine conflict, extended cruise seasons, and growing winter itineraries in Northern Norway. Bergen recorded the highest number of cruise ship calls, but Ålesund welcomed the most passengers.
