More than a million reviews posted to Tripadvisor in 2022 - 4.4 per cent of all submissions - were fake, according to the company’s Review Transparency Report, Travel Weekly is reporting.
The same report found Tripadvisor prevented 72 per cent of fake reviews from reaching the platform. The company also removed more than 24,000 reviews associated with paid review companies in 2022. Total reviews were up 20 per cent from 2020, reaching 30 million submissions.
