PONANT Ship is 1st French Vessel to Reach Geographic North Pole

PONANT’s Le Commandant Charcot, the cruise line’s first LNG-powered hybrid electric luxury polar exploration vessel, reached the geographic North Pole on 06SEP, the first French ship to ever reach the location. “I am hugely proud to have been at the helm of the very first French ship to reach the geographic North Pole, it is the ultimate achievement of a collective adventure started by PONANT many years ago,” said Captain Etienne Garcia. “I am very grateful to the crew and all the staff on board that have contributed to making this possible.” Le Commandant Charcot is also the very first LNG-propelled ship to reach the geographic North Pole.
