Recreational travel within B.C. as well as outdoor gatherings with up to 50 people will soon be allowed in the province as its restart plan moves forward. B.C. officials announced this Step 2 on 15JUN as case counts and hospitalization dropped while vaccinations rose. Masks and physical distancing is still mandatory, and those who live outside the province are asked to avoid travelling there. "My advice to non-British Columbians: If you don't have business here that's essential … then please stay where you are," said Premier John Horgan. The Premier also said that the necessary vaccine threshold to reach Step 2 had been "more than met." Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry B.C. will likely see some increase in cases as its reopening progresses, but said the goal is to keep case counts at a level where they can be managed by public health. If trends continue in the right direction, Step 3, which includes recreational domestic travel within Canada, larger gathering limits, and more, will begin on 01JUL.
