Scientists ID Caribbean Sea Urchin, Coral Reef Killer

Scientists say they believe they have determined the cause of death of thousands of sea urchins in the Caribbean in 2022, according to CTV News.

A single-celled parasite is likely responsible for the die-off of the long-spined sea urchins, which put numerous coral reef ecosystems into jeopardy. Scientists are now working to determine the best way to protect the sea urchins and ecosystems of which they are a critical part.
