A new group of activists called the “Seattle Cruise Control” (SCC) is trying to get cruise ships out of the Puget Sound area. In a press conference on 19JUL, the group stated that their concerns were centered around the cruise industry’s environmental standards and labor practices. Cruising in Seattle is a divisive issue, as while many see it as a massive boost to the local economy, others are concerned about the environmental impact of the ships and the impact on those living or working nearby.
