Setbacks for Small Airports if WestJet Integrates Swoop

A tentative deal between WestJet and the union representing its pilots could include a provision to integrate Swoop into WestJet by 24OCT, eliminating the airline completely, as Open Jaw has reported.

While no final decisions have been made, City News reports that the potential integration has raised concerns about the fate of smaller, regional airports that rely on Swoop's services. Most of the airports that welcome the airline are smaller operations, welcoming just a handful of carriers, and the loss of Swoop could represent a five-to-10-year setback.

Swoop currently operates out of 13 Canadian airports.
