Singapore Sentences Briton to Six Weeks in Prison for Not Wearing Face Mask

On 18AUG, a Singapore court has sentenced a British man to six weeks in prison for reportedly refusing to wear a mask in public, breaching the country’s strict COVID-19 health protocols. Benjamin Glynn was found guilty on four charges over failing to wear a mask on a train in MAY, as well as during a court appearance in JUL, as well as causing a public nuisance and using threatening words towards public servants. During Glynn’s court appearance on 18AUG, he asked the court to drop what he called "unlawful charges" as well as his passport to be returned so he could return to the U.S. to visit family, according to a local media outlet. Singapore is known for its strict enforcement of rules, and has previously jailed and fined others for breaking its COVID-19 regulations.
