Skiplagging Isn’t Going To Stop Anytime Soon, Even If Airlines Fight It

Skiplagging, also known as hidden-city ticketing, has resurfaced as a hot topic in the airline industry, notes PhocusWire.

American Airlines recently filed a lawsuit against Skiplagged, a platform that facilitates this practice, and cracked down on a 17-year-old who tried to use it to save money on a flight.

Despite the lawsuits and crackdowns, experts believe skiplagging is unlikely to disappear anytime soon. Airlines created this loophole through their pricing strategies, and closing it may adversely affect their network optimization.

However, while skiplagging may offer savings, it is not recommended by experts due to potential penalties from airlines whose terms and conditions prohibit its practice.
