Members of U.S. Congress are alarmed by a shortage of American border agents at the Canada-U.S. border, reports CTV News.
Democratic New York Rep. Brian Higgins said that Customs and Border Protection (CPB) personnel are being reassigned to the U.S.-Mexico border, causing longer delays and unstaffed kiosks at busy points of entry along the Canada-U.S. border. He added that’s despite the fact that traffic on the U.S. northern border is at 85 per cent of pre-pandemic levels.
Concerns about the rising number of illegal crossings on America’s southern border have prompted Republican members of Congress to call CPB to account for staffing levels there.
