New legislation was introduced in Spain on 02JAN which requires the collection of traveller data, reports Business Travel News, despite opposition from various organizations who say the bill is “disproportionate, unnecessary and contrary to EU law.”
The new legislation requires accommodation and car rental operators in Spain to collect customers’ personal details and sensitive payment information which is to be submitted to authorities and can be stored “indefinitely.” However, Business Travel News highlights that the breadth of the new law is still unclear and may be clarified or narrowed before passage.
