A new survey from Morning Consult on behalf of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) showed that - as COVID cases continue to rise in the U.S. - American leisure travellers are planning to significantly reduce travel plans amid rising COVID-19 cases. The study showed that 69 per cent are planning on taking fewer trips, 55 per cent are planning to postpone existing travel plans, and 42 per cent are likely to cancel existing travel plans without rescheduling. 72 per cent also said that they are only likely to travel to places within driving distance. The survey was conducted in 11-12AUG 2021 of 2,200 respondents. 78 per cent of respondents were those who indicated they may travel for leisure in 2021. 69 percent of those leisure travelers said they are likely to take fewer trips, while 65 percent said they are likely to take shorter trips.
