The Italian Beaches Putting a Daily Cap on Visitors This Summer

This summer, Italian authorities are taking steps to preserve the natural environment of Sardinia’s coastline by enforcing strict daily visitor limits, CNN Travel reports.

Four beaches will be affected, with a daily cap of 300 visitors in place for Cala dei Gabbiani and Cala Biriala, 250 visitors per day for Cala Goloritze, and a limit of 700 people for Cala Mariolu, the largest of the four beaches. Cala Goloritze will also charge an entrance fee.

Beachgoers will be required to book their spot through an app called Cuore di Sardegna (Heart of Sardinia).
