Australian airline Qantas has released new grooming and uniform styling guidelines for employees that flattens differences between genders, reports CNN Travel.
Previously, there were separate regulations for male and female staff, but now there is one set of requirements for all. The updated rules allow staff members, including cabin crew, to have long hair as long as it is worn in a bun or ponytail. They can choose to wear make up or not, wear glasses instead of contact lenses, and opt for flat shoes.
Other airlines, such as British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, have also recently revisited their employee dress codes, making similar gender-neutral provisions.
