The Travel Industry Council of Ontario’s (TICO’s) Board of Directors approved 14 claims against the Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund on 30MAY, TICO reports.
The claims totalled $51,809, benefitting 24 consumers who did not receive the travel services they paid for. The largest claims remained for Crystal Cruises, which declared bankruptcy before being re-launched by the same company that owns Abercrombie & Kent. TICO approved
5 more claims against Crystal involving 8 consumers and totalling $25,174.
TICO also denied six claims for various reasons, including filing beyond the deadline, lacking supporting documentation, and cancelling a non-refundable ticket, among others.
