Amidst unrest in Israel and Canada's travel advisory, the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) clarifies registrant responsibilities under the Travel Industry Act, 2002 and Ontario Regulation 26/05.
Registrants must inform customers of risks before and after booking, particularly if these impact decision-making. Despite travel advisories, there's no provision demanding registrants provide refunds or alternate services.
However, if suppliers fail to deliver, TICO reminds registrants that they must offer refunds, alternative services, or vouchers. Registrants are accountable for ensuring accommodations match descriptions. If transport delays exceed 24 hours, barring specific exceptions like weather or strikes, alternative solutions or refunds are obligatory.
