Transatlantic Flight Numbers Up: Data Demonstrate the Impact of the U.S. Reopening

As the U.S. reopens to fully vaccinated international travellers, early data demonstrates the success of initial searches and bookings. According to aviation data specialist Cirium, flights between the U.K. and U.S. in NOV 2021 are up 21 per cent versus OCT 2021, but remain 49 per cent down compared to NOV 2019. TripActions said that bookings for flights from the EU to U.S. destinations leapt by 213 per cent month on month following confirmation of the reopening date. FCM witnessed a 92 per cent month-over-month increase in transatlantic bookings in OCT 2021, while TAG, for whom transatlantic travel accounts for around half of its corporate U.K. business, says overall volumes have now rebounded to around 65 per cent of 2019 levels.
