Travellers in Italy are facing disruptions in the coming days as railway workers, airport baggage handlers, pilots, and flight attendants go on strike, reports Business News Travel.
On 13JUL, trains halted for 12 hours following a nationwide strike by workers at Italo and state-owned rail operator Trenitalia as part of an ongoing dispute over pay and working conditions. The strike was initially called for 24 hours but was cut short after Italy’s minister for transport and infrastructure stepped in.
Travel disruption is also expected at Italian airports on 15JUL as baggage handlers, as well as pilots at Malta Air and pilots and flight attendants at low-cost carrier Vueling, prepare to strike. Italian flag carrier Ita Airways has preemptively cancelled 133 national and international flights.
