With COVID-19 vaccines becoming both a requirement and a motivator for international travel, hygiene and physical-distancing protocols are giving way to proof-of-vaccination policies, and the travel industry is doing its best to capitalize. For example, the Globus group requires all travellers aged 12 and up to be fully vaccinated at least 14 days prior to joining the company’s international tours, river cruises and independent vacation packages. Most cruise lines require proof of vaccination, and crew members as well as guests are required to be vaccinated. International hotel chains such as Accor and Marriott are pushing to get staff vaccinated, while some boutique properties, have already done so. In addition, 51.8 per cent of travellers are looking for flexible policies according to the Travelweek 2021 Consumer Survey in JUN 2021, so many travel companies are pushing to be more flexible booking, cancellation and refund policies.
