Canadian tourism is on the rebound, with a notable year-over-year growth, but travel from the U.S. and other countries remains below pre-pandemic levels, according to Statistics Canada.
In NOV 2019, 408,610 non-residents arrived at Canadian airports, compared to 378,318 last month. U.S.-resident trips to Canada at land borders decreased from 903,130 in NOV 2019 to 783,490 last month.
Canadians are increasingly eager to travel by air, with 1,083,605 returning from abroad in NOV, a 3.9% increase from 2019. However, cross-border travel by vehicle has decreased for both Canadians and Americans. The recovery, though steady, shows a slight dip in NOV compared to OCT. Vancouver International Airport anticipates surpassing 2019 passenger volumes this winter, with a forecasted increase of over 1.6%.
