Following reports that a 2-person Ottawa firm was given millions of government money which it farmed out to multi-national corporations to build the ArriveCAN app, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said 23JAN it was “illogical and inefficient.” GCstrategies reportedly subcontracted out 8.3 of the 9 million dollars it was given in federal contracts for ArriveCAN.
The PM has asked the Privy Council to “look into procurement practices to make sure we are getting value for money,” he said.
He was also asked why the government couldn’t hire subcontractors itself or hire experts to do the work internally. "That's exactly the question that I just asked the public service," he said, according to CBC.
