The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is set to introduce the first-ever self-service security option for eligible TSA PreCheck travellers, aiming to expedite the security process, reports Simple Flying.
As part of the 'Screening at Speed' program, the TSA, in collaboration with the Science and Technology Directorate, is launching a prototype system in Las Vegas next month.
Dr. John Fortune, Program Manager, emphasizes the efficiency boost achieved through passenger self-screening, likening it to self-ordering restaurant kiosks. The program explores technologies from three companies—Micro-X, Vanderlande Industries, and Voxel Radar—focused on enhancing security screening through self-service solutions.
