A potential U.S. government shutdown could cost the travel economy USD $140 million daily, warns the U.S. Travel Association, and reported by Travel Agent Central.
The association's President and CEO emphasized the harm to travellers and the industry that would result, noting that government operational issues like visa and passport processing delays already make travel harder.
In the event of a shutdown, 60% of Americans would cancel or avoid air travel, according to an Ipsos and U.S. Travel survey. The U.S. Travel Association is urging Congress to avoid a government shutdown, as well as pass an extension to the expiring Federal Aviation Administration's authorization by both deadlines of end of SEP.
