The U.S. Travel Association is calling for government investment to pre-empt travel chaos this summer. Airlines have already cut capacity to JFK, LGA, and DCA in anticipation of delays at those airports, and JetBlue has been raising the alarm about operational issues over the summer.
The USTA says that while it is too late for government investment to prevent any of the travel delays in 2023, it is necessary to shore up the system for future years. The advocacy organization points to a lack of pilots, mechanics, and air traffic controllers as a major issue the U.S. government needs to address immediately.
