As many Caribbean islands are updating their entry protocols, some destinations are proving to be more attractive to vaccinated travellers, while those who are unvaccinated may reconsider their travel plans to the region. At least seven Caribbean destinations have announced mandatory vaccination policies for eligible travellers: Anguilla, Grenada, St. Barts, St. Kitts and Nevis, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos, as well as the Cayman Islands. Marketing technology company Zeta Global analyzed site traffic to the main tourism websites of several islands after they announced vaccinated-only policies, said Eric Bamberger, senior vice president of hospitality at Zeta Global, and found that travel interest typically went up. In contrast, destinations such as the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, the Bahamas and the U.S. Virgin Islands have entrance policies that rely on testing rather than vaccines at time of publication, although regulations are continuously being updated. Zeta Global found that interest in ‘unvaccinated’ destinations went down, and figures suggest that islands with more lenient entry protocols are likely attracting unvaccinated travelers while deterring vaccinated ones.
