Venice’s Visitors Entry Fee Takes Effect in 2024

In a move to manage the influx of tourists drawn to its historic canals, Venice’s plans to implement a 5 euro (CAD $7.32) admission fee for day trippers start next year, reports Skift.

The trial basis will include 30 days, focusing on UK spring bank holidays and summer weekends when tourism peaks. All visitors over the age of 14 will be required to pay the fee, aiming to strike a balance between the rights of residents and those visiting the city.

UNESCO experts have previously expressed concerns about the impact of mass tourism on Venice, recommending its inclusion on the World Heritage in Danger list. The final council approval is expected later in SEP.
