What Happens when Travellers Test Positive for COVID-19 on Vacation?

While many travellers around the world are expected to test negative before taking flight, what happens when they test positive while on vacation? April DeMuth and Warren Watson had to quarantine in Greece after testing positive before their return flight to the U.S., but while they did not have COVID-19 insurance, the Greek government covered the costs of the quarantine hotel. Others were unfortunately not as lucky. Gloria and Jose Arellano from California tested positive for COVID-19 after traveling to Mexico for a vacation. Unfortunately, Jose passed away due to the virus, and the costs for the family were staggering. Travellers are advised to consider the costs of the worst-case scenario when choosing a travel insurance policy.
