Gen Z, a generation roughly defined as being born between 1997 and 2012, is ready to travel, but where do they like to go and stay? Phocuswright’s latest research found that Gen Z travellers have Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean as their top destinations, but are also more likely than other generations to travel to farther-flung regions like Asia or South America. Compared to all other generations, this group of travellers were more likely to visit big cities (38 per cent) and theme park destinations (23 per cent), which typically cater to bigger crowds. In terms of accommodations, 51 per cent of Gen Z travellers who plan to take a 2021 leisure trip anticipate booking a hotel while 27 per cent expect to book a short-term rental.
