With N.L.'s Borders Open Again, Tourism Industry Wants Federal Help Encouraging Domestic Travel

A group of businesspeople, restaurant owners and tourism operators in St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador, are calling on the Canadian government to help encourage domestic travel after opening up following a year of travel bans and restrictions. At a media conference held outside Mallard Cottage in Quidi Vidi Village, group member Todd Perrin said it's time for Canadians to return to visiting the province. The group, Canadian Travel and Tourism Roundtable, wants more consistency on travel regulations across the country and a "comprehensive" plan to encourage travel within Canada. Newfoundland and Labrador began allowing fully vaccinated individuals and those partially vaccinated with a negative PCR COVID-19 test into the province without the need for quarantine as of 01JUL.
