Recent research from Longwoods International, which studies ongoing American Travel tSentiment during the COVID-19 pandemic, indicates worrying trends for America’s domestic travel and the travel industry as a result of the Delta variant. Travel Mole recently spoke with Amir Eylon, the President of Longwoods, about how U.S. travellers are less likely to travel due to the variant, and what that means for the future of its travel industry. Longwoods data shows that America has reached pandemic travel highs through JUN and JUL, but now one third of U.S. travellers have indicated to the company that they are postponing travel plans into either late 2021 or even 2022 due to concerns over the Delta variant. Two weeks ago, only 1 in 4 Americans had indicated similar plans, showing that there is some exponential growth in concerns. Longwoods has also seen a 20 per cent drop in American citizens’ willingness to accept visitors, around 47 per cent compared to the earlier 66 per cent.
