Antigua and Barbuda Launches 'Ultimate Beach Personality Test'

The islands of Antigua and Barbuda have 365 beaches, so to help pair travellers to their ideal sandy destination, the Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA) has created a beach personality test.

Fitness fanatics, socialites, foodies, nature lovers and those looking for the most secluded corner of the island, this personality test is intended to narrow down the ideal spot for a day at the beach. Questions include beach goer’s favourite seaside attire, contents of their beach bag, favourite tipple and what their idea of a perfect holiday would be

The quiz can be found on ABTA's web site, and examples of match-making results can be found below.

The Socialite: Pigeon Point

With white sand and palm trees, Pigeon Point is one of the top locations on the island for chic beach bars and restaurants. Club Sushi, Catherine’s Café and South Point are all within walking distance for a respite in between tanning, swimming and spotting celebrities behind big sunglasses.

The Foodie: Dickenson Bay

Beach goers at Dickenson Bay can enjoy relaxing, swimming and a long lunch in between sampling local snacks and topping up on pina colada. ABTA recommends checking out Coconut Grove in tropical gardens. For foodies looking for mid-morning brunch, the board recommends the Antiguan breakfast: okra, saltfish and fried plantain. Visible from the western side of the beach is Antigua’s only floating bar ‘Kon Tiki’ which is a pitstop for a rum punch if travellers are willing to swim out to get it.

Nature Lover: Great Bird Island

Great Bird Island offers turquoise seas for snorkelling and spotting a myriad of rainbow-coloured fish, a steep climb to see a natural blowhole, and the world’s only population of the Antiguan Racer Snake, a harmless reptile that calls this island home. Travellers are recommended to keep their camera handy for sightings of the West Indian Whistling Duck, the Frigate Bird, the Brown Pelican and the Red-Billed Tropic Bird.

The Quiet One: Seaforth Beach

For travellers looking for a beach where they can relax, ABTA recommends Seaforth Beach. Walk the 30-minute trek off the beaten path, jump in an off-road vehicle, or even hire a boat, it is not quite so easy to reach the destination. Those who do make it can expect white sand, palm trees that bend towards the waters and the melody of birds and tree frogs.

The Fitness Fanatic: Rendezvous Bay

Adventure awaits those who decide to take the hiking trail to Rendezvous Bay from Wallings Nature Reserve. On this advanced hike, travellers can see flora, fauna and views of Antigua. On arrival, beachgoers are rewarded with a dip in the clear waters.
