Canada Jetlines Marks Another CTA Milestone

Canada Jetlines is one step closer to commercial operations after receiving Stage 2 Approval from the the Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA). Stage 2 Approval means the agency determined the airline met the appropriate financial requirements. The CTA had previously determined that Canada Jetlines met the regulation requirements with regards to Canadian ownership and control on 17MAR.

With the completion of this milestone, the formal CTA commercial license will be issued after Canada Jetlines receives the Air Operator Certificate by Transport Canada.

“This is an important milestone for Canada Jetlines as we are approaching the completion of the AOC process with Transport Canada. The teams of both the CTA and Canada Jetlines have been working with great collaboration and diligence to ensure we have met or exceeded the requirements for a start-up airline operating in Canada. We are working in earnest towards the finish line of the certification process,” said Eddy Doyle, CEO Canada Jetlines.

Doyle added: “We are confident that we will operate our first commercial flight this summer and plan to announce our commercial schedule in the coming weeks.”

In 2021, Canada Jetlines commenced the application process for a license to operate an air service with large aircraft. The application process requires Canada Jetlines to provide information regarding the ownership structure and financial information in two stages. The first stage requires the provision of information and documentation regarding the funding requirements for the start-up and operation of an air service for a 90-day period.

The second stage requires the provision of evidence that the requisite funding is in place to finance the proposed air service. Canada Jetlines previously announced on 25APR plans to raise CAD $2.85 million in equity financing to support the Stage 2 licensing process.
