Intrepid Travel, a world leader in responsible travel, achieved record sales month globally in November and recorded its highest sales day in company history thanks to its annual Cyber Sale.
This year's record numbers also included the biggest day for North American sales ever, topping the previous record by 32%.
Top selling destinations for North Americans included Ecuador, Morocco, Peru, Vietnam and Croatia, with Ecuador climbing a notable six spots in the rankings from last year to claim the top booked in the 2023 sale.
As a region, South America is in high demand. The area outpaced Southern Europe and Southeast Asia as the most popular during the sale and the most booked by North Americans in final quarter of 2024.
Tom Smith, VP of Sales and Marketing for North America at Intrepid, said: “There are so many incredible destinations in South America to discover and it’s great to see this region in the spotlight. To keep up with the demand, we’re continuing to add new itineraries which cater to North Americans, including a new 6-day tour through the Heart of Guatemala.”
The figures revealed that more customers globally are avoiding peak season travel in favour of shoulder season departures, with September, April and May the most popular months to travel in 2024.
Travelers are also seeking the best value for money, with Intrepid’s more budget-conscious Basix style and 18-29s range seeing an uptick in bookings.
Intrepid also continued to see agents driving high-value customer bookings. Throughout this year, Premium and Comfort itineraries have been selling well through all key trade partners and this continued in the sale.
“North Americans are prioritizing meaningful experiences over material possessions and willing to make it happen, regardless of their budget. It’s clear that the excitement for travel that we saw this year isn’t going anywhere in 2024. We offer small group tours for travelers of every age, budget, and appetite for adventure” Smith continued.
