Virginia Beach is doubling down on festivals and events, ensuring there’s always something exciting for visitors to see and do this summer. Some highlights include:
Originating in Montreal, Jackalope Fest (May 31 - June 2) rolls back into Virginia Beach for a sizzling summer showdown. Watching high adrenaline sports like skateboarding, BASE jumping, bouldering, and beach volleyball will keep fans on their feet cheering on daring performances.
The beach will be jammin’ during the new Point Break Reggae Festival (June 1 - 2). It will spotlight Jamaican music, food and culture on the oceanfront with more than 20 live concerts. Headline artists include Sublime, Rebelution, Wiz Khalifa, Steven Marley and Steel Pulse.
The world’s longest-running surf competition carves up the Virginia Beach coastline during the 62nd Annual East Coast Surfing Championship (Aug. 18 – 25). The eight-day, international surf carnival welcomes more than 850 surfers competing for titles, prizes, history and the love of surfing.
Closing out the season, King Neptune reigns over the Annual Virginia Beach Neptune Festival Boardwalk Weekend (Sept. 29 – Oct. 1) as the beloved marquee festival celebrates its 50th year. Boardwalk Weekend is the highlight of the annual schedule spanning 32 oceanfront blocks with concerts, a nationally-ranked Art & Craft Show, Grand Parade and athletic competitions from surfing to volleyball. Not to be missed is the signature International Sand Sculpting Championship where 32 of the world’s most-talented sculptors turn nearly 500 tons of sand into works of art in three days.
