
Cocina de Autor, the newly awarded one MICHELIN star restaurant at the luxury all-inclusive Grand Velas Los Cabos, has been distinguished with the prestigious AAA Five Diamond Award.
This accolade adds to the resort’s extensive collection of AAA Five Diamond recognitions, further solidifying Grand Velas' commitment to culinary excellence. The award, a symbol of excellence in restaurants and lodgings, recognizes Cocina de Autor’s exceptional quality, leading-edge cuisine and outstanding service, cementing its place among the world's most elite culinary experiences. Since 1937, AAA inspectors have been recognizing consumer expectations and approving only the best places to stay and dine.
Led by two MICHELIN star chef Sidney Schutte and Francisco Sixtos, Cocina de Autor offers a multi-course tasting experience designed to elevate the palate by showcasing the richness of Mexican cuisine and local ingredients. Included in the resort’s nightly all-inclusive rate, the experience also explores Mexican wines and ancestral spirits with a complimentary drink pairing. Cocina de Autor now joins an elite group of approximately 60 restaurants worldwide with this distinction.

The Five Diamond rating is the highest level a resort can receive, indicating “ultimate luxury, sophistication and comfort with extraordinary physical attributes, meticulous personalized service, extensive amenities and impeccable standards of excellence” to an anonymous inspector according to the AAA website. Grand Velas Los Cabos offers the next generation of all-inclusive luxury, including gourmet restaurants led by top chefs like Cocina de Autor; oversized designer suites, some with plunge pools; a world-class spa; a staff ratio of 3 to 1; exceptional meeting facilities; and a commitment to the environment. Out of 27,000 restaurants and lodgings reviewed, only 0.5% are awarded the AAA Five Diamond distinction, with Cocina de Autor now among them.
