Celebrity's Bold Move
Air & All Inclusive Concept Spreading Its Wings
by Vanessa Lee

What do all the following cities have in common this winter and what do they have to do with Celebrity? The cities are Halifax, Ottawa, Moncton, Hamilton, Quebec City and London – and all of them are featured departure points for exclusive non-stop Miami flights to ultimately board either the Celebrity Silhouette sailing 7 day itineraries on Sundays or the Celebrity Reflection with departures on Saturdays.

Prestige Cruise Holdings’ Frank Del Rio and Norwegian Cruise Line’s Kevin Sheehan have agreed to work together through 2015.

Canadian North Airlines at MIA

This inclusive air and cruise programming combination was 1st tested last winter by Celebrity with several departure points, including Hamilton and Ottawa, and it proved to be such a success that not only is the concept being repeated, new cities have been added.

This is a start to finish package and priced accordingly. And here’s how it works if you haven’t had enough time to focus on this new development in the marketplace right now… because as usual you are inundated.

The dates for the program commence on either February 7th or 8th and go through to April 4th or 12th depending on the gateway, day of the week and the selected ship.

Flights are offered to both ships from these 6 gateways on Celebrity chartered Canadian North aircraft exclusively for their guests each week. And, better still, the flights are non-stop. All meals and inflight beverages are included in the price as well as headsets and entertainment – no extra costs on board. Such a nice change and a way to start pampering their guests/your clients and preparing them for a wonderful onboard experience on these ships.

Celebrity Reflection

And when you get to the ship here is what Celebrity is going to include for your clients: all taxes and gratuities as well as the onboard “Classic Beverage Package” for 2 adults over 21 in the stateroom (which includes beer, wine, spirits and more) – a value of up to $789. (3rd and 4th stateroom occupants get a non-alcoholic beverage package too and a 40 min. internet package). All transfers from airport to pier and return are also included and each guest can check up to 2 bags.

Now you will all have to read the mice type on these offers for the specifics and the details but the main point is – this is a great deal. Celebrity is doing something different and offering your guests a great chance to experience not only their 5 star premium product but with all these added inclusions on 2 of the newest ships in the Celebrity fleet.

The Reflection and the Silhouette are part of the 5 vessel Solstice Class which debuted back in 08 to massive kudos and rave reviews. Certainly they are some of the most beautiful, well designed and stunning ships on which I have ever sailed. Great dining, wonderful service and a contemporary onboard product delivery that is at the top of its class.

Celebrity Silhouette

Add to that an all-in, easy way to get to the ship, and the inclusions as noted above – what’s not to love people?

Verandah staterooms are priced from CAD1999 with suites starting at CAD3109 per person (and that includes air and the liquor! – and no need to add any gratuities on to the cruise.) When you boil it all down this is a wonderful bargain and I commend Celebrity for stepping out in this way and offering this program to so many Canadians in several provinces.

I met with Brenda Yeomans who is Regional Sales Manager, Canada for Celebrity and spoke to her about the concept a few months ago. She says it really is a seamless package, (practically door to door) and the response was so positive last year that they felt it was really worth expanding. And of course this summer they also had a package including air from Toronto to Vancouver for an Alaska cruise onboard the Century - again with liquor package and gratuities.

Personally Celebrity is one of my all-time favourite brands and I have sailed on their ships many times and always had a marvellous experience – I have a soft spot in my heart for this brand… and for very good reasons.
