ANOTHER 'DAM' SHIP

Inaugural of Holland America’s Rotterdam through the Lens of New President Gus Antorcha: IN FOCUS

Holland America Line's newest flagship, the Rotterdam, has arrived from the Netherlands and set sail on her inaugural season in the Caribbean.

Open Jaw was on the Rotterdam's first departure from Port Everglades on 05NOV, and Lynn Elmhirst sat down on sailing day with HAL President, Gus Antorcha, who took up the role in the summer of 2021.

The two discussed what makes this Rotterdam so special. It's the seventh 'Rotterdam' for Holland America Line over its 149 years of sailing, and the last in the series of Pinnacle class ships for the cruise line.

Antorcha also talked about restarting cruising - with a focus in the coming months on the Caribbean. Rotterdam will be one of four HAL ships sailing Caribbean itineraries this season - 20 months after the industry-wide suspension of cruising. All Caribbean itineraries will call at the line's private island, Half Moon Cay, which is the top-rated port for HAL's guests.

Plus he teased an upcoming initiative just for travel advisors in Open Jaw's first in-person interview with Holland America Line's new president.
