AVIATION INTRIGUE

OWG Acquires First Boeing 737-800 from Frank DeMarinis

OWG's new Boeing 737-800

OWG is adding its first Boeing 737-800 to its fleet to mark one year since the airline launched.

The company reveals the aircraft was purchased “from a special purpose corporation wholly-owned by Frank DeMarinis,” who is a well-known figure in the industry as the president and CEO of TravelBrands.

OWG is a division of Quebec-based Nolinor Aviation, and was launched in 2020. The airline has only operated for about a month this past winter when it partnered with Hola Sun (Caribe Sol in Quebec) to provide direct air service to Cuba before joining other carriers in discontinuing flights to sun destinations at the request of the federal government to reduce the spread of the COVID virus.

As Open Jaw has reported, OWG has been busy during the pandemic shut down. It gained permission from the Canadian Transportation Agency to operate scheduled flights to the U.S., Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica.

The new-to-OWG Boeing 737-800 permits the new carrier to fly more distant destinations than is currently possible with its existing fleet.

It is the fourth aircraft in the company’s fleet, and is expected to be in service in 2022 once it has been outfitted to OWG’s standards.

The airline says it will announce new destinations in the coming weeks.

"Our team spent the past year planning this moment and we look forward to flying again when it will be safe to do so. With this new 737-800 aircraft, OWG will offer the HIGH LOVE experience towards more destinations. It is the next logical step for us,” declared Marco Prud'Homme, President of Nolinor Aviation.

More information about OWG is available on their website.
