Where were you born? In Reims, France – the City of Champagne.

How long have you been in the business? Nearly 20 years! I’ve been in Canada 6 years now.

What’s the best part of the job? Connecting with people.

What did you want to be as a kid? A doctor.

What was your 1st ever job? It was so long ago – as an assistant in a company which produced parts for cars.

What’s the scariest thing you’ve ever done? Rock climbing in the Alps.

Any guilty pleasures? Yes – chocolates, sweets, desserts – everything that’s sweet!

What’s on your iPad? Right now? Books including Alice Munroe short stories.

What do people not know about you? That I’m actually Belgian! And now I’m also Canadian and very proud of it.

Any hobbies or interests? Yes, hiking, camping – anything involving the outdoors.

When were you happiest? Last year, on holiday on the shores of Lake Superior. Oh, and in 2006 when my immigration visa to Canada arrived – on my birthday. Can you imagine?

What skill or talent do you admire in someone? People who can multi-task.

What keeps you awake at night? Work. The sheer amount of work.

How do you spend your frequent flyer points? Travelling within Canada.

What was your proudest moment? Getting the courage to emigrate.

What is your greatest extravagance? My cats.

How do you stay fit when you travel? I try to get enough sleep.

If you could change 1 thing about the industry what would it be? I’d go back to the days when travellers were made to feel special.

If you could sit next to anyone on a long-haul flight, who would it be? The Dalai Lama. But that’s just 1 - there are so many interesting people on this planet!

Do you have a favourite charity? Anything that involves animals.

What will be the biggest challenge for the industry in the next 12 months? Keeping people interested in our destination – that’s an ongoing challenge.

What do you hope to be doing in 10 years? Be on a farm, with a lot of animals, producing fine cheese.
