The UK announced today a list of countries whose fully-vaccinated travellers will be exempt from mandatory quarantine on arrival. Canada is not on it.
Effective 02AUG, according to a news release from the U.K. government, EU and the U.S. travellers who are fully vaccinated may bypass mandatory quarantine.
"Passengers who are fully vaccinated in the EU with vaccines authorised by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) or in the USA with vaccines authorised by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), or in the Swiss vaccination programme, will be able to travel to England without having to quarantine or take a day 8 test on arrival," the release adds.
Travellers from Canada to the U.K. will have to quarantine at their home if they are residents, or at the place they’re staying if they have no U.K. residence. In addition, they will have to take a Day 8 COVID test.
CBC got confirmation from the U.K. government that Canada is included in the new exemptions, but they were not given a reason for the exclusion.
