The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has added more destinations to its “very high” travel risk list for COVID-19 on 13SEP, including more island nations in the Caribbean and Indian Ocean.
These popular beach vacation destinations were moved to the "Level 4: COVID-19 Very High" list as of yesterday, 13SEP:
- Belize
- Grenada
- Mauritius
- St. Kitts and Nevis
- In addition to:
Afghanistan
- Albania
- Lithuania
- Serbia
- Slovenia
St. Kitts and Nevis, in the Caribbean, recently said “no” to receiving cruise ships until vaccine and testing protocols were identified following Florida’s decision to allow unvaccinated passengers to cruise.
The “Level 4” designation means that the CDC has advised people to avoid travelling to these destinations, and anyone who must should be fully vaccinated first.
According to CDC criteria, destinations in this category have had more than 500 cases per 100,000 residents in the past 28 days.
Four other destinations were moved to the next-highest “Level 3” category on 13SEP as well: Australia, Brazil, Ethiopia and Romania. Brazil moved down from Level 4 while the other three moved up from Level 2 in the health agency’s risk assessment.
