Effective 20JUN, the federal government’s new travel vaccine rules, announced a week ago, take effect.

While the vaccine mandate has been relaxed, it hasn’t been dropped altogether.

Furthermore, the government says the rules have been ‘suspended,’ and could, if circumstances change, be re-implemented, so pax still need to stay abreast of rule changes that have been trickling down since Spring.

Domestic and Outbound Travel

Proof of full vaccination is no longer required for air or train travel domestically, or outbound internationally.

U.S. and International Travel

However, inbound travellers to Canada are required to be vaccinated, and they must continue to use the ArriveCAN app to enter the country. That applies to both land and air cross-border arrivals.

Unvaccinated Canadians returning to the country will still face testing and quarantine requirements.

Cruise

Vaccine mandates remain for cruise pax entering or departing Canada, as well as other strict protocols.

Masks

Mask mandates remain in place for all air and rail travel.

Entry Testing

Ottawa had previously dropped the requirement for vaccinated travellers to provide pre-entry, negative COVID tests. It had also suspended random testing of arrivals at Canada’s airports.
